BRIEF BIO:
My Low Whistle playing spans 30 years, I am no longer a "solo" recording artist or making music for commercial / public consumption. Nevertheless, I'm still a musician, these days a rather private one. Truth is, in all my days as a solo musician, I never gave public performances or played out much. No one can claim they saw me perform. I was asked by a number of people around the world to play this rather slow & pensive music I was known for. The world, although beautiful, can be a very dangerous place. That includes social media. I now "avoid" it as much as possible. I enjoy my privacy & really just wanted to showcase my Low Whistle skills by recording 2 albums, "Tears of the Forest" (2001) & "Bass Dreams" (Jan 2018 - Sept 2019). That's it, no real desire to perform or generate revenue from that, kept it very simple. I also struggled financially over the years due to that decision. Most musicians rely on performing to generate steady income. It was not me. Maybe, one day.
I had only 1 desire, a PASSION for playing & expressing myself on Low Whistles, even taught myself to compose music on the instrument. I'm entirely "self-taught". It was simply me, the kitchen table which was full of Low Whistles in every key imaginable. In retrospect, I enjoyed the Bass Low Whistles more than anything else. That was life as a musician, it was pretty simple & probably to others a bit boring. Yet, I was satisfied. As I get older, I enjoy my privacy even more & see the benefits from it every single day! Having stated that, for the right price & under the "right" circumstances, I would perhaps consider lending my musical services for projects. Lastly, to "license" my music for your film / documentary feel free to reach out. I own the copyright for both albums.
BASS DREAMS CD PROJECT:
The very 1st & only recording worldwide for Irish "Bass" Low Whistles. The project is literally half "World Music" & half "Traditional Irish" influences. Those are my influences for the past 30 years. It was a very difficult project to complete, a double CD mixing traditional Irish & various styles together for many didn't think it would work. Thankfully, I have heard from a number of people that I pulled it off successfully! For that, I am grateful. In addition, much of the playing was Improvisational.
I believe in SELF-EXPRESSION; my music is slower in nature that is my style of playing. I focus on emotion not speed. The recording is at least 2 hours in length. I'd like to point out, listeners can hear me taking a "breath" when playing. That was intentional. It places listeners in the moment much like a LIVE performance. If you are willing to open your heart & appreciate music from around the world, you may enjoy the variety.
MUSICAL ARRANGEMENTS:
I'm on Bass Low Whistles only. The other instruments are from players from around the world. I collaborated w/ to lay out my ideas for the long project. Much of the ideas & overall arrangements come from me, however, I needed specific instruments I had in mind & assistance to bring those ideas to light. I hired each musician & the rest is history.
INSTRUMENTS USED:
. Irish "Bass" Low Whistles - A (Primary), Bb (1 Track), G (1 Track). Low or Baritone C isn't considered a Bass Low Whistle & was not used on the project. Tenor/Low Eb was used on "A Stor Mo Chroi". Unfortunately, the Bass G track, "The May Morning Dew # 2" which I recorded for Bass Dreams had to be omitted at the request of Davy Spillane w/ Sony Music. In addition, "Corcomroe" the Bass A was used. Out of much respect for Spillane the 2 tracks were removed. However, one can still hear those 2 tracks on my You Tube Channel which are dedicated to Davy & "not" for monetary gain. Click the You Tube link listed here on Bandcamp. Although the 2 tracks were omitted, you still get 2 hours of music. That's a lot of music at a reasonable rate of $20.00.
CONTINUED...

DISCLAIMER:
