Indulge in the Irresistible: Homemade Chocolate Butter

Chocolate butter, do you know it? When I was young, on special occasions, my mom bought it. Such a packet of Choba, which you can smear on a slice of bread. Or if you stored it in the refrigerator, and it hardened, you could cut it into slices and slowly melt a piece in your mouth. With this blog, your bowl of chocolate butter is at hand.

You won't get skinny from chocolate butter, but it's delicious and an easy recipe. However, the ingredient list of the packages you buy in the store contains over 15 ingredients, and that's quite a lot. When I read that, I decided to make this spread myself. Oh, and this chocolate-flavored butter recipe has just two ingredients and is such a simple recipe.

I'm going to make myself a toast with this delicious butter.

This recipe is adapted from the Dutch blog Eet het Beter.

  1. Melt the chocolate au bain-Marie. That means adding the chocolate into a bowl that is put over a pan with a layer of boiling water, where the bowl does not touch the water. Let it cool until it's almost room temperature.
  2. Mix the butter with an electric mixer in a large bowl for 2-3 minutes until fluffy.
  3. Add the melted chocolate, little by little. Make sure to scrape the sides of the bowl regularly.
  4. Continue mixing on low speed until the chocolate is incorporated.

Tips, Substitutions, and Variations

  • Dark chocolate:You could use milk chocolate or white chocolate instead of dark chocolate. Each of them has its unique flavor.
  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best results.
  • Make sure the butter and melted butter are at room temperature before mixing.
  • If you want this chocolate butter sweeter, add some powdered sugar or maple sugar.
