Paloma co*cktail Recipe - Patron Paloma Grapefruit Highball Drink (2024)

Highball co*cktail recipes are served in a tall glass over ice. This Paloma co*cktail Recipe combines the refreshing tang of grapefruit and lime with Patron Tequila for a fantastic, smooth taste.

It is a great addition to my collection of Patron drinks to make.

When we think internationally of drinks associated with Mexico, the margarita always comes to mind, but the Paloma might actually be more popular in Mexico itself!

Paloma co*cktails get their fruit flavor from grapefruit and a squeeze of lime, while margaritas use lime and orange liqueur for their flavorings.

Summer is the time of the year when I really love to make co*cktail recipes. Check out my latest – a coffee martini. Great for a nightcap.

This easy Paloma co*cktail is one of the simplest drinks to make and a most refreshing co*cktail! It is a fruity and fun drink that is ready in just minutes!

What is a Paloma co*cktail?

In a Paloma, you will find tequila with lime juice and a pinch of sugar and they are then combined with grapefruit juice along with club soda or grapefruit flavored soda. Paloma co*cktail Recipe - Patron Paloma Grapefruit Highball Drink (3)

I chose grapefruit juice and grapefruit flavored sparkling water for my version since I didn’t have club soda on hand and it worked out great. A good fizzy grapefruit soda will also work well!

What is the best tequila for a Paloma?

Both the margarita and the paloma drink are sour type of co*cktails. For best results, use a 100% agave silver or blanco tequila. I chose Patron Silver for my drinks.Paloma co*cktail Recipe - Patron Paloma Grapefruit Highball Drink (4)

The añejo and reposado tequilas which are both aged, are better for sipping straight so give them a miss for this drink recipe.

I also used Patron silver in another fruity summer drink. This one uses pineapple instead of grapefruit. See the Patron pineapple co*cktail here.
